April 2020= Creation of my blog / Team Lingo Mix

April 2020: 1st thing I wanted to share with you: the start of my blog= This idea – not a new one but never had the time, patience,… to create it – comes from in particular with an exchange chat with my new German associate teacher Heide during this lockdown.

During this pandemic situation in which we are living, on lockdown, keeping us distant from our family, friends, loved ones…, keeping us socially apart-which is a step I am very much in favour of , even though not so much a pleasant experience, but necessary for saving lives and protecting us from this terrible disease- I took the time and decision to develop my social business into an online language school venture: I am lucky to find incredible multicultural friends during my time at the social events in my language cafe in Milton Keynes, which by the way is a very nice, with green open spaces, a new and growing town close enough to London to go whenever I fancy….and set up an amazing team of native, fluent and qualified teachers to accompany me during the venture. You are welcome to have a look at their profile into OUR TEAM page: https://lingomix.co.uk/our-team/

European Capitals:

3 years ago 2018 I was in Lisbon to my cousin’s wedding.
I find this capital very interesting, beautiful.
Lisbon and Rome are my favourite at the moment, as I had not visited all of them.
Who has ever visited Lisbon?
What is your favorite European capital?
Any other capital recommendations to explore?

Do not be scared of getting out of your comfort zone:

Last night – 14th November 2020 I had an amazing time organising what I like=
International Language event with my monthly Lingo Mix practise our favorite languages, in collaboration with  DuolingoEvents

Usually before the lockdown I used to gather multicultural people and share our passion for languages

Online it is another experience, a new challenge when it is about 60 people joining, a different setting than sitting around different tables to practice our languages

I was a bit nervous, dealing with many people as I was not used to so many and dealing with the technology to place everyone in different breakout rooms to practice their languages = it was a great and challenging experience

Thanks for the feedbacks =
“Thanks for this evening, Marie. You did a good job putting us into groups.
YOU are a real LINGO Mix International! Thanks again for this evening.”…

Feel free to join my monthly Lingo Mix International gatherings and practice your favourite languages in a social informal environment.

Hello
Bonjour
Just a few French Christmas traditions I miss

Papillottes
Delicious traditional sweets with French festive flair!
The history of the Papillote:
Papillotes were invented in Lyon last century by a confectioner named Papillot, who made chocolates and sweets in his shop in Lyon
When he discovered that his young apprentice was sending stolen sweets wrapped in love letters to his sweetheart, Papillot was far from angry. He thought it an excellent idea, and so he began making his now-famous Papillotes de Lyon.
Made from candied fruit and chocolate, and wrapped in their traditional gold and coloured paper, these lovely Christmas sweets are guaranteed to add a little French festive flair to your Christmas table!
…..

Bûche de Noel, (Yule log), is one of the oldest French Christmas traditions. It dates back to Celtic times before Christmas in France was celebrated.
Today it is one of the French Christmas desserts served at the Réveillon, the French Christmas feast.
And don’t look at the English chocolate logs. They don’t taste nothing like the French one.
They are just an imitation, like the Chocolate éclairs…
You need to try the French ones❤️

LANGUAGE LEARNING IS INCREASING:

“The number of people learning a language in Britain has risen twice as fast as the rest of the world in the last year, according to online learning platform Duolingo, and one of the fastest growing groups is those learning French.”

Feel free to visit our page of friendly language teachers who will gladly help you with your language learning experience:

LANGUAGE CLASSES OR PRIVATE LANGUAGE LESSONS?

A potential client ask me why the prices are so expensive, while students can take for example the IELTS exams at a cheaper price?

You can’t compare private tuition to classical language classes OR exams, tests like IELTS….

They are all different processes, with different learning methods, different purposes.

There is no set or standard rule regarding which are better, language classes or private language lessons. For some students, a private lesson may be better, and for other students a group setting may work. It also depends on what is being taught, what the students are expected to do, and if the student actually wants to learn: https://www.rypeapp.com/blog/language-classes-or-language-lessons/

PRIVATE TUITION

Private tuition is more for people motivated to learn, improve their language with a more customized language learning method. The teacher can adapt the courses for each student. In language classes you have a method for everyone , and you need to stick with it. Some people need / prefer personalization of their courses, as they have their preferred learning method ( visual, hearing, music, conversation…)They need a customized learning approach to improve the language faster, better.

It is good sometimes to try both: a few clients who took language classes first can decide afterwards to switch to a private tuition for different reasons.

Whatever the option you choose, learning a language can be a FUN experience and be very useful ( travel, job…) So let’s learn languages .

Feel free to visit my page and my team of language teachers for a fun and friendly language learning experience – and for any language queries, ask me: marieitmm@gmail.com

What is your favourite traditional dish?

There is a new kind of tourism.. Led by the likes of https://www.eatwith.com and Dine in . They arrange for you to dine with a family who will prepare their local specialities and even show you how to make it! Well how about arranging with foreign friends in your home town to share your recipes and dine together?..

Even if you try out recipe yourself and give feedback on Zoom? It is a wonderful way to travel without the long cramped  journeys. It can work online too!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TRADITIONAL DISH?

I miss my International Food evenings in Milton Keynes also.

OUR LOCKDOWN EXPERIENCES:

What will be our experience of our world this year? Will we be content to stay in our borough or just go out to exercise once a day? What can we do to widen our horizons again? To interact with other cultures and places from around the globe. Perhaps we need to spend time seeing travel TV programmes.. then writing down what we value most of our own culture, at its deepest level and what appeals most to us from the other culture. Let us all learn to be travel writers in this time of lockdown !

Feel free to tell me about your lockdown experiences? New activities, challenges ( homeschooling…)? Everyone has to face this pandemic situation the best we can.
